In 100 proofed words, discuss one of the essential truths revealed in Cat's Cradle. You may build on a previous post, but do not repeat ideas.
American society is flawed in many respects. This is a major point of Cat’s Cradle. One thing that San Lorenzo provides is a counterpoint to American society in that it shows a group of people who don’t need to pretend that they are doing worthwhile things all the time… they just want to be happy. In my poor estimation of the state of things, I feel that our society would improve a great deal if this concept permeated it and people actually (shock, gasp) thought about the foolish and inconsequential things that they stress over and force themselves to do. In our society we encourage the need to constantly work and this has become a hindrance to our lives in many ways. People wake up and realize they don’t really have any idea what the members of their families are about and the person they married has become a complete stranger. And why did they let this happen? Oh, that’s right… to make more products for our overly materialistic society- bravo, what a wonderful thing to give someone’s life meaning.
