Subject: Viewing Apocalypse Now
As part of student's course of study in Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, students will view and analyze the film Apocalypse Now. The film insightfully portrays the concepts and themes presented in the novel Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, and in so doing acts as a vehicle to enhance students' understanding of the complex issues that support and drive the author's purpose. The movie carries an "R" rating, so if you feel that this activity is not appropriate for your child, then please print, sign and return the bottom portion of this memo and an alternate assignment will be administered.

I would prefer my child complete an alternate assignment rather than participate in the analysis of the film Apocalypse Now.
